THERAPIES

Cognitive Behavior Therapy  (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or “CBT” is a therapy that focuses on the thoughts we have about what happens to us or others.  These thoughts are automatic and they are based upon a lifetime of experiences.  When something happens the thoughts we use to interpret that event cause an emotion, which then leads to an act or behavior. Are we upset because of our interpretation of what happened, which may be based upon assumptions that may be incorrect?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is built on the same premise as CBT, acknowledging the power of our thoughts, and learning four skills that enable us to feel in control when emotions are overwhelming. DBT skills give you the ability to feel in control when emotional. Research has shown DBT to be effective in treating depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and addictions. This short synopsis of DBT is by no means reflective of its power. We live in a complicated society! Emotions are triggered by all sorts of things happening, but the source is not always known. Everyone needs skills!

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression, phobias, relationship difficulties, and anger.

When a disturbing event occurs, it is stored in the form of images, emotions, thoughts, and body sensations.  The person is unable to "let go" of what has happened, because of their brain's inability to make the positive associations needed to reach a resolution.  The intellectual part of their brain may have accepted the rationalizations made, but the emotional brain still feels negatively affected.  It is natural for people to want to make sense of what happens, and yet it doesn't make sense, so they cannot let it go.  EMDR therapy has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress.  Listen to people share their stories about EMDR by clicking on the video below.

Tapping on the meridian points on the body with fingertips calms the emotion down while thinking about the problem, which results in a neutralizing effect of the negative emotion.s, thoughts, and body sensations.  It has proven to be effective for physical issues as well as emotional ones.  It is common knowledge that emotional stress can impede the natural healing potential of the human body. Watch the video below for an excellent overview of what EFT can do to help those wanting “emotional freedom”.

EFT tapping is a powerful self-help method based on research showing that emotional trauma contributes greatly to disease. This is also true when using EFT for anxiety.
